You don’t have to be 100% sure of your identity. Ever.
You don’t have to run yourself into the ground trying to pull yourself apart and figure out the words. And it’s okay to be nervous instead of excited about a new discovery, because hey, it can be scary. You’re allowed to experiment, you’re allowed to question, you’re allowed to dwell on it as much or as little as you want because it is your feelings, your self, your identity.
You deal with it and wear it like you want to, because it’s yours.
And I don't think "responsibility to ensure as best he can that he isn’t offending anyone i.e. educating himself" should appear just because you are in a line that gives you more exposure. It should be a basic human responsibility. But at the same time celebrities (or at least those who are not selling their image by pretending to be role models) have the right to sound like an idiot - free speech and all that.
It is a basic human responsibility. We agree on that point, and I hope I didn’t imply that it was one that only applied to celebrities. I meant to say that they should, of all people, be most aware of that responsibility.
They also do have the right to sound like an idiot. But when there are millions of people listening to what you say (or not, as the case may be!), it doesn’t mean you should. AND it doesn’t mean we can’t criticize it!
