croclock:

i wanted to do something inspired by riverran’s beautiful tag “bury my heart on the banks of the trident” but i could never get it right

Put me in the Kingslayer’s empty irons, and I will wear them proudly, if that is how it must be.

It is the shadow of war, on her heart, she thinks, of marriages forged for steel and sword. It is the gloom of looming womanhood and the threat of widowhood. It cuts softer than terror, it is a pull in her chest, a flutter of longing for days with her feet dangling in the river, of the mud thick between her toes and the breeze warm on her face, of flowers in her hair and grass on her dress, and she goes to kneel before the Maid for the last time and wishes to be young forever.

- Lady Winter by Starkfish.

“Show me the path I must walk and do not let me stumble in the dark places that lie ahead.”

wickedstepmother:

She woke aching and alone and weary; weary of riding, weary of hurting, weary of duty. I want to weep, she thought. I want to be comforted. I’m so tired of being strong. I want to be foolish and frightened for once. Just for a small while, that’s all…a day…an hour (a storm of swords)
I want …” Catelyn hung her head. “I want,” she said once more, and then her words were gone. (a clash of kings)

“Does Cersei pray to you too, my lady?” Catelyn asked the Mother. She could see the proud, cold, lovely features of the Lannister queen etched upon the wall. The crack was still there; even Cersei could weep for her children. “Each of the Seven embodies all of the Seven,” Septon Osmynd had told her once. There was as much beauty in the Crone as in the Maiden, and the Mother could be fiercer than the Warrior when her children were in danger.

thesavagesalad:

I love (hate) how the show had enough time to show the detailed murders of the children of Robert Baratheon, and give Craster an unnecessary amount of lines for him to gain a following

But totally screw over what would have made for a fantastic depiction of Catelyn Tully who in the books is a

  • mother
  • lover
  • leader
  • daughter
  • politician (well, in essence)
  • strategist
  • so on and so forth

but the show’s served her with the image of a mother just being this one dimensional trope

and making Robb out to be a hero when we all know that in the book he was playing king, and a king who needed a tamer ego and better guidance at that which Cat does show.

But now that’s been fridged

fuck it

fuck it all
